Kristina, weirdly enough I never went out to any New Year’s Eve parties before I started playing them. It just wasn’t my vibe. The first New Year’s Eve party I played was a real eye-opener, especially since it was also my first gig EVER.

I have a sad lack of live music on my New Year’s Eves, though this is partly because I’ve spent 19 of them in a row, at home (at first of necessity from our December baby and afterward because we kind of liked the peaceful hunkering-in after all the holiday hoopla). I have a dim memory of some heavy metal band playing in some grim dark warehouse or something when I was twenty or so. I think we went to humor a friend but I don’t remember having any fun at all. I don’t think that counts. Otherwise, in our halcyon days. we were at house parties.
