When you distill that judgy voice, you usually find that it’s based on negative emotion: fear, anger, indignation, etc. I don’t want to live in that place, and I don’t think negativity is a good basis for making decisions. That voice can just get so freaking loud! I want to stuff a sock in its mouth.

The judgy-pants crone in my head (she’s the worst) rolls her eyes at that and sneers, “Yeah, well, that’s a handy thing to say so you can do anything you want in any given moment.” But I actually don’t like her and didn’t invite her to the party.

I like “forever tries.” And let’s face it, we all need this.
